Pantomime 6-13 January 2018 All Saints Church Hall

Red Riding Hood

Written and directed by John Desbottes

The club’s 79th traditional family pantomime, staged at All Saints Church Hall from 6 to 13 January 2018. The tale of Red Riding Hood goes back to old European folk stories, some far darker than the one we know: in the early versions the wolf eats both the grandmother and the girl, and there the story ends. It took the Brothers Grimm to add the happy ending.

Our version adds songs, dances and characters you won’t find in the original, from Grandma, John Shepherd’s 26th turn as the club’s Dame, to the witch Morgana and her fairy sister Sylvana, who spend most of the show arguing. And rest assured: no one gets eaten.
